The Criminal Code, R.S.C.  1990, c.  C-43, s.71 forbids dueling whereas it states:

71. Every one who

(a) challenges or attempts by any means to provoke another person to fight a duel,

(b) attempts to provoke a person to challenge another person to fight a duel, or

(c) accepts a challenge to fight a duel,

is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years.

Interestingly, the Criminal Code is silent on a definition of duel; and accordingly, it appears that Steve Martin and Kermit the Frog should be criminally charged with the offence of engaging in a duel!
